SERVICE  INTEGRITY  TRADITION
After building bicycle frames for years in Belgium, Emil Wastyn decided to come to America and master his craft. In 1910, Emil opened a bicycle store in Chicago at a small location on Fullerton Ave. The foundation of the store was built on "service, integrity, and tradition". He prided himself on his craftmanship and commitment to his customer. Oscar Wastyn Sr. came along and helped the store thrive, building and improving the stores services. Oscar moved the store to a larger location on Milwaukee Ave. , where it remained for over 50 years. " Service , integrity, and tradition" remained the integral part of the Wastyn success. Oscar Jr. and his son Scott, have in the fourth generation, expanded the store yet again and returned to there roots to an even larger location back on Fullerton Ave. When you arrive at Wastyn Cycles there is a good chance that the person taking care of you is either Oscar Jr. or Scott. In order to assure that "service, integrity, and tradition" remain the cornerstone of Wastyn Cycle, Oscar and Scott remain loyal to the family belief of doing things the correct way. Oscar and Scott still do the majority of the repairs and sales , call it "hands on" or "old school", it's just the way they do things here, it's the right way to treat customers. The Belgian Historical Society along with the city of Chicago payed honor to the Wastyn family and all the years of service to Chicagoland cyclists by having Talman Ave. share its name with "Wastyn Way". Over 100 years in the business Oscar Wastyn Cycles remains committed to "SERVICE, INTEGRITY, and TRADTION.
